Overview

WinUAE is an Amiga emulator for Windows. WinUAE includes a debugger/monitor called HRTMon, which is built into all WinUAE versions since v1.3 (2006-07-16). It also includes a save state function which can make a raw dump of memory.

Using WinUAE

WinUAE debugger

Press Shift+F12 while the emulator is running to pause emulation and launch the debugger. Type '?' or press the '?' button to read a list of commands, and type 'g' to start the emulator running again. The function keys switch between tabs in the debugger.

WinUAE save state

Hit F12, go to the 'Miscellaneous' tab and hit "Save state". By default, WinUAE creates compressed save state files. If you want to generate a memory dump, change the filetype in the drop-down box of the save requester to "RAM Dump".

Save states are also useful for repeating from a fixed point in order to perform controlled tests.

Other Information

Compiling WinUAE is a lot easier than it used to be.
